Davids work in Myanmar
From Crisis to Calling — Transforming Myanmar with Faith in Action.
Myanmar is a country rich in natural resources, yet its people suffer under deep political and economic hardship. Since the military coup in 2021, the nation has become isolated, and human rights have deteriorated sharply. The army uses violence to maintain control; entire villages have been burned down, and countless families have fled into forests or cities to survive.
Economic collapse has followed — harvests lost to floods, prices rising up to five times higher than before, and unemployment soaring. While about 90% of the population is Buddhist, Christians face strong opposition and, in many areas, persecution. Among the 40 million ethnic Burmese people, it is estimated that only around 30,000 are followers of Christ.
The world seems to have forgotten about Myanmar. Many natural distasters have hit, but international aid did not come…
Taungoo Mission Center – Vision and Purpose
Taungoo Mission Center, founded and led by David, exists to equip believers in Myanmar to reach the 40 million ethnic Burmese with the gospel. The work is built around four core strategies:
1. Planting House Churches
Small, flexible communities of faith that can easily multiply and adapt to local conditions. Despite the challenges, the church is growing. Around ten new house churches have been planted through David’s leadership. New believers are added very regularly, they are baptized and given Bibles.
2. Training local Leaders and Missionaries
Teaching practical ministry skills, supporting local outreach, and encouraging self-sustainability. Every year since 2022, 10 to 15 students attend a three-month intensive Mission School, studying the Bible, leadership, and evangelism, while spending weekends reaching out to unreached communities. Leadership training is also held in Yangon and Bago, equipping young pastors — many of them former Buddhists — to lead new churches.
3. Reaching the unreached
David and his team go on outreaches very regularly to visit remote villages where the people have never heard the gospel before. On his 3 yearly Bible courses the students join these outreaches every weekend! Since 2022, eleven graduates from the program have been sent to new areas where the gospel is still unknown. The team of missionaries is growing.
4. Crisis response and humanitarian aid
David and his team have been active in Taungoo for about twenty years. Since the coup, their work has taken on new urgency. Many villagers have fled from military violence, losing their homes and livelihoods.
Regular floodings and a recent big earthquake were also met with swift crisis response and the team handed out fresh water, medicine and food to those affected by distaster.
The mission team now provides food aid, temporary housing, and skills training — such as computer and sewing courses — to help families earn a living again. They transport rice and other essentials on scooters or a pick-up truck. The buildings previously used for the children’s programs have been transformed into shelters for displaced families.
To keep doing this, they need a team of supporters who will be as faithful as they are.
They need prayer covering and financial support to keep reaching the unreached and helping those struck by disaster! Will you stand with David and his team?
About David and His Team
David, the founder of the Taungoo Mission Center, is married and has two daughters. He belongs to the Chin ethnic minority but grew up within Burmese culture. This background allows him to connect deeply with the Burmese people and communicate fluently in their language.
Together with a small, faithful team of around 15 missionaries they live simply — relying on faith, prayer, and the generosity of partners who stand with them in their mission. Amid danger and instability, they continue to bring hope, prayer, and practical help to those who need it most. Their work is a testimony of perseverance and faith — a light shining in the midst of chaos.
